CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP
This highly interactive course looks into the disciplines of, trends in, styles of and character of leaders. The goal of the course is to help the student to become informed about the different aspects they can develop that will make them great and good leaders. The course is either two quarters or a semester in duration and includes but is not limited to: Leadership Styles, Types, Trends, Character, and learning the differences between managers and leaders.
Some of the subjects discussed are:
Facing reality, Finding ways to Achieve, Goal Establishment
Recognizing deception, Paying the price for Excellence,
Adjusting the Focus, Application of your DISC leadership mix
Many other subjects are covered in these intensive, fast moving classes
SERVICE LEARNING
Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities (Learn and Serve America National Service Learning Clearinghouse). Service learning is all about helping students development a compassionate character and intentional habits of looking after the needs of others. Students are introduced to the aspects of service learning, including “Why Social Service? Also, Entrepreneurial Social Service as well as other subjects are actively researched and experienced.
Practical Aspects: During the quarters or semesters students are required to find and establish relationship with a local social service activity and to spend 20 - 40 hours in volunteer service there. Student’s reflections and life transformations are astounding.
